So, let us understand what is shyness and what is social anxiety. shyness is simply feeling nervous and timid when interacting with other people, okay not necessarily strangers but also with people who are close to you, okay. If you are facing certain nervousness when talking to people, then you are a shy person okay. And social anxiety is a much broader term okay it is a much broader term if in addition to feeling or nervous while interacting with people, if you face or fear of being absorbed, like if you are eating something and you are feeling nervous that people will judge you the way you are eating, then it comes under social anxiety So, interacting With people being observed by people, and the third perspective is that performing in front of people. So if you are doing public speaking, for example, and you get chills and nerves all over your body, that means that you are experiencing social anxiety.

So shyness is simply feeling nervous or timid when interacting with people. And social anxiety is feeling nervous when interacting with people feeling nervous when being absorbed by other people and feeling nervous when performing in front of people. Okay, so these are three perspectives. These are three aspects of social anxiety. Now, what is the difference between social anxiety and social anxiety disorder? Okay, so social anxiety disorder is also known as sad.

Okay, sad social anxiety in this order. is said only then your social anxiety interferes with your day to day routine, okay? So for example, if you have social anxiety while eating, and you go to a canteen or a restaurant, and you enter there and suddenly you see all people are looking at you, and you cannot eat. So that is why you go back again to your office and you skip your lunchtime and your meal just because you were hearing so much about being absorbed by people. So if these little fears and nervousness and anxieties are interfering, in your day to day life, okay, stopping you from doing what other people do naturally, then it is a social anxiety disorder.
